Our Opinion: 2015

The Polish power house

What is the most successful European economy in the last decade?  Poland.Whilst some may have thought Germany, it is looking very tired. The UK may have rapid job growth but is addicted to debt.

Poland has quietly rebuilt itself from the post-Communist devastation into a well balanced, low-debt, manufacturing powerhouse with one of the steadiest growth rates in the world. Its appeal is growing beyond its focus on sub-contracting for multinationals and many Polish workers are returning home – tempted by better wages. Growth could easily accelerate.

But this seems to have been overlooked by investors in the Polish stock market. At just over 50,000, it is well down on the 67,000 that it hit before he crash. It has barely grown at all over the last decade. 2015 could be the year global investors discover it.
